By the late 1800s the free-ranging buffalo of the western plains of North America were almost extinct. This documentary is the story of the buffalo's revival. Live action, eye-witness accounts and archival photos document our fascination with this ancient and legendary animal. By the director of Atonement.

“Finally finished the film, thank you for fixing the feed at the 31 min mark. Maybe someday I will venture up to those parks and see those bison, love'em. Just saw Warner Herzog's Cave of forgotten dreams tonight, the imagery of these animals really is stirring to the soul...”

“I was able to watch the film successfully, thanks. I feel sad that the buffalo are under threat and can never be what they once were, but I am very grateful that there are individuals who have made it their life's work to ensure that this noble animal continues to exist. This film is somewhat dated - is the buffalo still on the endangered species list?”

“II can't get this to play. I went from high to standard quality, and it still takes forever to start, then quits after a few seconds. Other films run fine.”

“The seems to be the descriptive version of the film with two commentaries. One is the original commentary and the added one tells you everything that you see ( eg bison runs...bison goes after red cloth etc) and this version usually designed for special use audiences and not the original. Can this film be seen with only the original narrator's voice?”

“ I thought this was an excellent film so far. Although I have been unable to view the last 20 to 25 minutes for some technical reason. I have tried a couple of different computers on different days. Could somebody please check the film feed from the web page it seems to be hung up about minute 31. Would love to finish the film and make more comments... thanks”
